Solution Components:

  • Printable versions of forms
  • Multi-level security heirarchy
  • Tracking chart for evaluations in process
  • Integration with data warehouse system

Technology:

  • MS Office SharePoint Server 2007
  • ASP.Net

Needs:

  • Secure, efficient way to administer teacher evaluations

Challenges:

The Indian Prairie School District wanted to implement a district-wide Teacher Evaluation Program using the Charlotte Danielson Framework of Evaluation to enhance the high level of standards demonstrated by the teachers and provide a process based approach to help staff succeed.  Administrators and HR staff needed to be able to review staff evaluations and teachers needed access to their own information. The solution needed to be scalable and able to handle many simultaneous users during key evaluation times and for training.

Solution:

Avastone Technologies and Heartland Business Systems developed a Web-based system centered on the Charlotte Danielson Framework and content submitted by Indian Prairie School District. Administrators and teachers now use this platform to facilitate the evaluation process. The system leveraged the district's  existing investment in a SharePoint environment to provide dashboard reporting, security structures to limit access as necessary and printing capability of all forms.

Impact:

  • More efficient way to track progress of evaluations through the process
  • Reduced paper work
